Mini Kaftan - Hand Dyed Terra Cotta

The Mini Kaftan returns in two of my favorite tones—an offbeat Chartreuse and an earthy Terra Cotta. The silhouette is a long-loved favorite: an easy, effortless throw-on designed for everyday wear. This round is very small batch, as I hand-dyed them all and love doing tight runs of things. Each piece is also pre-washed and pre-shrunk for a lived-in feel from the start.

Crafted from a linen-cotton blend, the fabric offers a bit more structure than pure linen while still feeling relaxed, breathable, and broken-in. It carries that easy, worn-in quality that only gets better with time.

The dyeing process is central to the work—something I’ve been doing for over 20 years and continue to approach as both craft and art. Each piece goes through multiple dye baths, multiple times, something that I Work on for a couple of months before coming to a place of completion. This process achieves natural variation, depth, and subtle irregularities that make every kaftan unique. 

Because these are extremely small-batch and individually hand-dyed, all pieces are final sale in-store and online. If you’re on island, I always welcome you to come by the shop and experience them in person.

This shape is an easy throw on. There is contrast exterior stitching, hidden side seam pockets and a double back yoke with clean finish French Seams.  I hand dyed this whole batch, so they are pre-washed and pre-shrunk.

  • These dresses are made the old fashioned way, by hand
  • Pre-washed and pre-shrunk, but I still recommend cold water washing and hang dry or low heat. I snap them out after washing and before hanging to dry so that the fabric dries flat and it minimizes the need to iron out rolled hems. 
    
  • A hot iron will get rid of the rolls though.

All sales are final on these. Please understand that the final result of these hand dyed beauties was achieved from layering several layers of professional textile dyes, the tonal variation is intentional and each piece is unique.
